People were seen in tears on a south Manchester street following the reported stabbing of a teenage boy. Neighbours described their shock following the incident on Southlea Road in Withington at around 11am on Tuesday (November 22).
Police said the teenager was the victim of a 'serious assault'. Residents said he was knifed, but this has not been confirmed by police.
"Officers attended the scene, and a teenage boy has been taken to hospital with serious injuries," GMP said in a statement.

No arrests have been made. A scene remained in place on Tuesday afternoon, 'with no disruptions to the wider area'.
"Enquiries are ongoing and we are keen to speak to anyone who knows anything about this incident," the GMP statement added.
Neighbours watched on as police vehicles arrived to the scene and a cordon was erected. They spoke of their shock after an air ambulance landed.
A person who lives nearby, who asked not to be named, said: "It is shocking as it is right near a school and around the time the nursery children are walking home."
Ladybarn Primary School is less than 350 metres away.
A man said he didn't see what happened, but heard something 'kicking off' at around 11am, adding: "It’s not nice, this is usually a quiet area."
People on the street told the Manchester Evening News they were worried about their children. One woman said: "I've got to go and pick my kids up from school, but I don’t want to bring them back to this."
The Greater Manchester Police statement, in full, read: "Just after 11.30am today (Tuesday 22 November) Greater Manchester Police were called to reports of a serious assault on Southlea Road, Manchester.
"Officers attended the scene, and a teenage boy has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.
"No arrests have been made at this time.
A scene is currently still in place on Southlea Road, Manchester with no disruptions to the wider area.
Enquiries are ongoing and we are keen to speak to anyone who knows anything about this incident."
A spokesman for the North West Ambulance Service said: "We responded to a police incident on Southlea Road following a call at 11.38am and sent an ambulance, response vehicle, air ambulance and a Hazardous Area Response Team member.
"A patient was taken to the hospital by road."
