South London residents were evacuated from their homes after an unexploded World War Two bomb was discovered on Tuesday afternoon.

Metropolitan Police were called to a property in Poplar Grove, New Malden just before 4pm.

A suspected unexploded World War Two ordnance was found in the garden, Met Police said.

Cordons were put in place and some evacuations carried out as a precaution.

Images from the scene show police cars blocking the street and a number of emergency services attending, including firefighters.

Specialist officers attended and it was later removed and taken for safe disposal.
