Residents have been evacuated from a block of flats in a Scots town after flames ripped through the building sending smoke billowing into the skyline.
Firefighters from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Services and Police Scotland were called to Shore Street and Harbour Street in Nairn earlier today after reports of a blaze in a residential building.
Images from the scene show flames ripping through the top of the building. Part of the roof on the flats appears to have caved in due to the fire.
A video from the scene also shows firefighters in a crane spraying water over the flames as officers from Police Scotland on the ground cordoned off the area. It's not known at this stage how the fire took hold.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Emergency services are in attendance at a building fire on Harbour Road in Nairn. The incident is currently ongoing and we would ask members of the public to avoid the area at this time."
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 1.09pm on Friday, 9 June to reports of a fire affecting a top floor flat in a three-storey building on Harbour Street, Nairn.
"Operations Control mobilised seven appliances and a height vehicle to the scene to extinguish the fire and crews remain at the scene as they work to make the area safe. There are no reported casualties.”
