Residente Drops Second Solo Album 'Las Letras Ya No Importan'

Residente unveils second solo album 'Las Letras Ya No Importan.'

After years of introspection, Puerto Rican rapper Residente has unveiled his second solo album, 'Las Letras Ya No Importan,' or 'The Lyrics Don't Matter Anymore.' The album, released through Sony Music and 5020 Records, features a collection of music Residente has curated over the past seven years.

Notable collaborations on the 20-song album include hip-hop icons Busta Rhymes and Big Daddy Kane, as well as reggaeton star Vico C and vocalists Rauw Alejandro, Christian Nodal, and Jessie Reyez, among others. The album comprises previously released tracks such as the politically-charged 'This is Not America,' 2020's 'René,' 'Quiero Ser Baladista' featuring Ricky Martin, and 'Ron En El Piso' and 'Problema Cabron' with WOS.

One standout track, 'Bajo Los Escombros,' incorporates Palestinian melodies contributed by Palestinian singer Amal Murkus. Residente's engagement with global issues was further highlighted when he postponed music releases in response to the conflict in Gaza, expressing dissatisfaction with the Latin Grammys for not utilizing their platform to address such matters.

Prior to the album's launch, Residente released the single '313,' accompanied by a visually striking music video starring Penélope Cruz. The song, dedicated to a departed friend, features Cruz's voice as a poignant narrator, exploring themes of life and time.

Residente's latest album showcases his artistic evolution and commitment to addressing social and political issues through his music, solidifying his position as a thought-provoking figure in the music industry.
