Two men wielding a knife and hammer threatened and assaulted a Canberra resident during a violent home invasion, police have alleged.
One of the accused pair faced the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday after being arrested and charged with aggravated burglary and aggravated robbery in company.
The 35-year-old man did not apply for bail.
According to ACT Policing, the two alleged robbers forced their way into a Deakin home about 11.30pm on Saturday night and confronted its resident.
They allegedly demanded his car keys and wallet before punching him twice. The pair are said to have fled the scene in a Mitsubishi Triton and a Nissan Navara.
When police conducting a patrol in Holt located the Triton out the front of a home the following morning, and after reviewing CCTV, they arrested the 35-year-old man who was residing there.
Investigations into the identity of the second man are ongoing and police ask that anyone who has information relating to this incident, including CCTV or dash cam footage from around the area, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
