Resident Evil Re:Verse reappears after year-long delay

Almost exactly one year ago, Resident Evil Village came out. How appropriate that after all this time, its long-forgotten multiplayer mode might finally come out.

As first spotted by Gematsu, Resident Evil Re:Verse was rated on Stadia over the weekend in Europe. As VGC points out, the spinoff received ratings on PS4, Xbox One, and PC more than a year ago, but there’s been no additional information since then. So perhaps, at long last, Resident Evil Re:Verse will release soon, or maybe the PEGI ratings page updated for no good reason. Who knows!

If you have no idea what Resident Evil Re:Verse is, you’re far from the only one — this one has a messy history. It’s some sort of competitive PvP title featuring iconic Resident Evil characters and locations. Originally, the game was going to release as a free pack-in bonus for Resident Evil Village. Then, after fans reception to Re:Verse‘s beta was mixed at best, Capcom delayed the game until sometime in 2022

Now, full disclosure: I didn’t play Resident Evil Re:Verse during the beta period. However, it looked absolutely dreadful. Just watch the official trailer below while trying to make sense of what this game even is.

With how many quality multiplayer titles are out there already, it’s no wonder why Resident Evil Re:Verse didn’t release back in 2021. Last fall, Capcom announced free DLC was coming for Village, though nothing’s come of that yet.
