A recent update related to Resident Evil 9 has given fans of the classic horror title a little bit of hope. This is that an official reveal of the latest entry is coming soon.
The new development comes after Capcom confirmed earlier this summer that the next entry in the horror franchise was in development. The studio said that it was looking forward to when it could finally share more information about the mysterious project with its fans
Resident Evil 9 Update
The update was discovered as a new listing for Resident Evil 9 on Metacritic. The page itself does not have any information related to the upcoming game in the franchise. However, it does say that the title will be coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
So far, it is unclear whether Metacritic personnel themselves are aware of the sudden Resident Evil 9 leak. It is also unknown what actually prompted the creation of the page related to the upcoming game, according to Comic Book.
Despite the update, it seems like the Metacritic page for Resident Evil 9 does not reveal anything much about the game. The site has previously created other placeholder pages such as this one for other titles.
However, some of those placeholders never actually resulted in the video games actually being revealed by developers or studios.
One example of this is Half-Life 3 getting a Metacritic page for several years. But it was never formally revealed by developers from Valve.
The development comes as one of the best Resident Evil titles is getting a release later this year. Capcom shared a new trailer for Resident Evil 2's port on Apple devices, including iPhone, iPad, and Mac, Gaming Bible said.
Resident Evil Franchise Releases
The update comes after the success of Resident 7: Biohazard, Resident Evil Village, and the Resident Evil 4 remake. Many fans believe that these titles share the same level of popularity as their PC and console counterparts.
The situation also comes as Capcom recently released a new trilogy bundle for Resident Evil fans. It brings three remake titles and puts them together in one single package. The studio has been remaking a lot of the series' titles over the past two decades.
The Resident Evil Remake Trilogy bundle is available for $89.99 and can be accessed by players on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
It includes the Deluxe Edition of the Resident Evil 2 remake and Resident Evil 3 remake. It also has the Gold Edition of the Resident Evil 4 remake, according to Game Rant.
