Chapter 4 of the new Resident Evil 4 Remake has seen a big overhaul, with a lot more content than the original in the form of a huge lake to explore. With new areas come new puzzles, and there are two areas in the lake with symbol pedestals. These stone altars have a much of buttons on them that need to be pressed to progress, and the solution isn’t immediately obvious.
You’ll need to complete these to progress through Chapter 4, so we’ll take you through the puzzle step-by-step to get you through these symbol puzzles in Resident Evil 4 Remake.

Lake Cave Shrine symbol puzzle – RE4R
To get anywhere with these puzzles you need to look for symbols drawn on the wall in yellow paint. You then go to the pedestal and press the buttons that correspond to those symbols. Each puzzle needs you to find three symbols, with this first one getting you the Apostate’s Head.
Starting from the Lake Cave Shrine (by the boat) you’ll be able to see these symbols on the wall:
First, this pair right next to each other.
These weird brackets are across the bridge.
And this circular plant-looking symbol is further down the passage.
Tap the right buttons and you’ll get through.
Small Cave Shrine symbol puzzle – RE4R
The next of this puzzle is in the Small Cave Shrine, and you’ll get Blasphemer’s Head for completing it.
The three-pronged symbol is painted across the wooden and stone walls.
The second symbol requires you to line up the right perspective.
And the final three squiggles are on this wall.
Tap the symbols into the pedestal just as before, and you’ll have the items you need to get the Church Key.
