A 16-year-old girl has fallen off a cliff edge at a quarry, prompting an urgent rescue operation.
Emergency crews are at the scene off Ingleberry Road in Shepshed, Leicestershire, where a rescue operation is underway.
The girl, who is with a friend, is believed to have fallen around 10 metres down a cliff face, Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service (LFRS) said.
She is said to be suffering from neck and leg pain.
Rescue crews were alerted to the incident, near the junction of Ashby Road East and Ingleberry Road, by East Midlands Ambulance Service which is also in attendance, LeicestershireLive reports.
A firefighter and EMAS Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) team are being lowered to the girl.
A second firefighter has been sent to rescue her friend.
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that the second girl was uninjured.
With a number of quarries in close proximity to Ingleberry Road, the exact location of the incident is yet to be confirmed.
The LFRS commander at the incident told LeicestershireLive that one girl had been "extremely lucky to get away with her life today".
He added the cliff was around 50 metres from top to bottom.
Another group of teenagers were arriving to swim in the quarry this afternoon, but firefighters were able to warn them not to following today's earlier incident.
