Rescue teams find no sign of missing Scots hillwalker after second day of search

Rescue teams are to spend a third day searching for a missing Scots hillwalker.

Finn Creaney was dropped off at Loch Naver on the B873 public road in Sutherland around 2.15pm on Friday.

The 32-year-old, from the Tain area, had plans to walk the route around Loch Naver and South to Golspie.

While his vehicle was found in this area, Finn has not been seen or heard from since.

Extensive searches have been carried out, with search dogs deployed and various mountain rescue teams assisting.

"Support from search dog SARDA members and RAF Lossiemouth MRT to cover a vast, remote and challenging area south of Loch Naver.

"Thanks also to Rescue Helicopter 151 support. If anyone has any information on Finn who started his walk last Friday please call 101 quoting 0912 of 28 March. More info on Highlands & Islands Police Division fb page."

Police Scotland confirmed the search continues into its third day on Wednesday amid increasing concern for Finn.

Officers say they are continuing to search the area between Altnaharra and Golspie in Sutherland.

Finn is described as 5ft 11, slim build, with light complexion and freckles on his arms and nose. He has long brown hair down to his lower back and a full brown beard which is short in length.

He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, a knee-length brown leather jacket, dark coloured trousers, brown waterproof boots and was carrying a green rucksack.

Inspector Alasdair Goskirk said: “As time passes, our concern for Finn’s welfare continues to grow.

“We are thankful for the support we have received in our efforts to trace him and continue to appeal for anyone who believes they may have seen or spoken with him in recent days to urgently come forward

“Anyone with information should call 101, quoting reference 0912 of 28 March.”
