An animal shelter has gone viral online for treating its rescue dogs to a very special dinner - McDonald's double cheeseburgers. The abandoned and unwanted pooches were captured on camera enjoying a one-off treat of tasty human food.
Some pups appeared to savour their beef burgers, while others gobbed the fast food down in one big mouthful - all with excitable "crazy eyes". The Humane Society of Lebanon County, in Pennsylvania, US, has racked up more than 89,000 shares on its Facebook post showing dozens of homeless dogs tucking into McDonald's.

The viral Facebook post read: "The shelter pups enjoyed a special treat today. Donated by a previous adopter, burgers for the dogs were given, in memory of Joe Kunder. Today was his heavenly 55th birthday, and this is something he would've loved."
The status racked up more than 45,000 likes and 18,000 comments, with hundreds of people falling in love with the rescue dogs.
"This is the best thing I think I've ever seen! The dogs faces are priceless!" someone said, while another wrote: "Every single one looked so excited for their extra special treat!"
"The eyeballs of amazing appreciation. So cute and a sweet idea," a third commented.
One avid McDonald's fan noticed: "Those are not just cheeseburgers, those are DOUBLE cheeseburgers!"
It was up for debate in the comments section whether animals should be fed McDonald's, as certain ingredients - such as garlic and onions - could upset their stomachs.
Someone argued: "I don't think dogs should be eating McDonald's burgers. They're pumped with a lot of chemicals and preservatives that's not good for their bellies."
Though another said: "Sadly most of those dogs will die in the shelter or be euthanised. Let them have that slice of joy. One McDonald's cheeseburger will not hurt anything."
Another rescue centre recently went above and beyond to bring their dogs happiness - with the help of trusty chicken nuggets.
The team at Michigan Animal Rescue League (MARL) in the US treated their pups to 'chicken nugget day', and it brought people to tears.
The day came around when one member of staff decided to switch up the usual daily enrichment and bought some chicken nuggets on their lunch break.
Tommy Sanfilippo, animal care technician at MARL, said: "We take in over 1,500 animals annually, many of whom have been dealt a pretty rough hand in life.
"It's nice to be able to give them a special treat every now and then. It makes the animals happy, which makes us happy."
The post gained more than 31,000 upvotes and hundreds of comments, with fans besotted by the unique idea.
"Brought tears to my eyes," someone commented, and another said: "How did a video just melt my heart?"
