Pineapple on pizza is the controversial food debate that never ends - and it seems even dogs can't get away from the conversation. A rescue centre in Michigan, USA, has named a new litter of puppies after common pizza toppings, but they've avoided the tropical fruit.
Animal carers at Michigan Animal Rescue League (MARL) welcomed the adorable pups into the world after their mother, Baby, was surrendered to the charity because her owner couldn't care of her. Tommy Sanfilippo, animal care technician at MARL, told The Mirror : "We usually just pick a theme for litters of cats and dogs, and everyone loves pizza!"

The nine puppies have all got their official names, including: Bacon, Onion, Pepper, Sausage, Olive, Mushroom, Cheese, Garlic and Anchovy - which makes for quite a tasty pizza.
Tommy shared their updated titles on TikTok in a sweet video, and dogs lovers became smitten with 'The Pizza Kids'.
"I want them all but will settle for Bacon, Mushroom and Cheese - winning combination," a TikToker commented.
"They all look delicious," someone joked, whilst another wrote: "Ohhhh mmyyyy heavens!!! Aren't they the cutest."
Though one person noted a pizza topping was missing, and comically said: "No pineapple!? Too controversial?"
Speaking about the new dog mum, Baby, Tommy said: "She was quite nervous on her first day at the shelter, but has been in great spirits every since.
"She's been a delight with staff and has been a wonderful and extremely patient mother.
"The puppies will need loving homes with patient owners who are willing to help them learn the basics like potty training and general dog etiquette.
"It's also imperative that they have positive outlets for their energy."
MARL is one of southeast Michigan's most established animal shelters, serving the community since 1953.
Its mission is to provide the highest quality of life to dogs and cats through rescue, medical care, socialisation and support.
This week, volunteers at the centre decided to share the love and treat their residents to an 'ice cream day' to cool down in the scorching heat.
The cute TikTok video has gained popularity online showing 12 homeless pooches licking their tubs of pup-friendly ice cream.
Tommy said: "We've had a few different volunteers bring in dog-friendly ice cream for the dogs, and it's been a great treat to give out on some of these extremely hot days we've had."
