Rescue crews are currently engaged in a search operation to locate the crash site of a helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi. The head of Iran’s Red Crescent Society, Pir-Hossein Koulivand, informed Iranian state TV IRINN that the crash site has not yet been found.
Earlier reports indicated that the aircraft's location had been identified through a signal from the helicopter and a crew member's mobile phone. Despite this information, the search teams have not been able to pinpoint the exact location of the crash site.
Koulivand mentioned that the search efforts are concentrated in the vicinity where the signals were detected. However, challenging weather conditions, including heavy fog, have significantly impeded the search operation.
As of the latest update, it is just after 1 a.m. local time in the remote, mountainous province where the helicopter is believed to have crashed. The harsh terrain and adverse weather conditions are posing obstacles for the rescue crews in their mission to locate the crash site.
