The Republican National Committee recently withdrew its court petition seeking increased access for poll watchers in Milwaukee. Initially, the RNC had claimed that the city's elections commission was restricting public observation of the voting process at polling locations. However, during a court hearing, an RNC lawyer stated that there were no issues, contradicting their previous complaint.
The RNC's complaint highlighted specific polling places in Milwaukee where limited numbers of observers were allowed despite the capacity for more. This discrepancy led to the RNC's legal action, which was later retracted after a hearing before Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Michael Hanrahan.
Following the court proceedings, Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson refuted the RNC's allegations, stating that there was no credible evidence to support their claims of improper conduct by the city's elections commission.
In response to the developments, RNC Chairman Michael Whatley and co-chair Lara Trump issued a statement acknowledging that the Milwaukee Elections Commission had addressed their concerns and ensured transparency in public observation of the voting process.
