Republican Governors Withdraw Support For Mark Robinson Amid Scandal

Florida Governor and Republican presidential candidate Ron DeSantis debates California Governor Gavin Newsom

Republican Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin has stated that he currently has no intentions of providing further support to the North Carolina gubernatorial candidate Mark Robinson, who has been embroiled in a scandal. Youngkin, a member of the RGA Executive Committee, had attended an event for Robinson in August but has clarified that there are no plans for additional backing of Robinson's candidacy, as confirmed by Youngkin's spokesperson Justin Discigil.

Similarly, Republican Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp also issued a statement indicating a cessation of support for Robinson, with the Republican Governor’s Association noting that there will be no further ad buys in North Carolina.

These decisions follow revelations that Robinson had made controversial remarks on a porn forum over ten years ago. The comments attributed to Robinson include self-identifying as a “black NAZI,” advocating for the reinstatement of slavery, and expressing a preference for transgender pornography. Robinson has denied that the posts were authored by him.
