Republicans' slim majority in the House of Representatives is facing a new challenge as a candidate in a GOP-dominated district in Florida is at growing risk after his Democratic opponent vastly outraised him during the campaign.
Concretely, Republican Randy Fine raised less than $1 million and currently has a little over $90,000 on hand, while Democrat Josh Weil raised $9 million and has $1.2 million on hand, Punchbowl News' Jake Sherman reported.

Sherman, who specializes in Congressional matters, went on to recall that the district was won by over 30 points by Mike Waltz before being tapped to be President Donald Trump's national security advisor. "Republicans on the Hill and in W.H. are getting a bit worried about this seat," said Sherman about the race, which will take place next week.

NBC News reported on Friday that about 75% of all donations to Weil's campaign were grassroots, with most sums being $200 or less.
Fine is being aided by the Republican Party of Florida, which launched a joint ad buy with Fine, spending over $900,000, the outlet added. Defend American Jobs, a super PAC tied to the crypto industry, also spent $1 million on an ad blitz that began last Tuesday.
It is unclear if Democrats' cash advantage will be enough to pull the upset, considering that Trump won 65% of the vote in the district in November. But Weil, a teacher from Orlando, is moving forward, recently telling the Daytona Beach news-Journal that he is not "running against Mike Waltz, who is their chosen representative time after time," but against "Randy Fine, who is someone they have never elected or voted on, who is someone they have never sat back and said, 'This is our guy.'" The special election will take place on April 1.
