Emergency services raced to the scene of a serious crash involving a motorbike on Monday night (November 21). Rochdale Road (A664) in Middleton was closed for hours after the collision, which reportedly saw two riders 'thrown into the air'.
The busy main road was immediately closed off between Stanycliffe Lane and Stakehill roundabout. The crash was first reported at around 10pm - with the scene not clearing until the early hours of Tuesday morning.
There are unconfirmed reports that two people were injured in the collision, the nature of their condition is yet to be confirmed. The motorbike involved appeared to have crashed into a metal barrier at the roadside with witnesses reportedly seeing two riders 'thrown into the air'.

Pictures show a large emergency services presence at the incident, with paramedics and police at the scene late into the night. The road remained closed for a number of hours, opening up again shortly after 1am. Two ambulances are also understood to have attended the scene, before the casualties were taken to hospital.
Transport for Greater Manchester announced local bus routes were also diverted due to the closure, tweeting: "A664, Rochdale Road, Middleton is currently closed in both directions near to Hopwood Hall due to an RTC.
"Bus 17 is diverting and will not serve stops between Hollins Lane and Tesco at Sudden. Please plan ahead & allow extra time if travelling this way."
Greater Manchester Police have been approached for further details on the crash, but have not yet responded to the Manchester Evening News.
