Reports of 'large scale' police presence in Lanarkshire town

A large scale police presence was reported in East KIlbride last night.

Information circulated social media, with a video showing at least two police cars parked outside the Coop store on Main Street.

However, comments suggest up to “six police cars and a riot van” had been in attendance initially, with one witness telling us he thought the store had been targeted.

Our source told Lanarkshire Live: “There are only two police cars now and the riot van.

“It looks like it’s the Coop has been robbed or at least targeted from what I’m seeing.”

Police Scotland have been contacted for information, but as of yet have been unable to get back to us.

Anyone with any information in relation to any incident should contact police on 101.

Information can be left anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
