Reporters Without Orders Ep 209: Delhi riots two years later, Indian students in Ukraine

This week, host Ayush Tiwari is joined by Newslaundry’s Tanishka Sodhi and Supriti David.

Tanishka talks about her report on the aftermath of the Delhi riots 2020, and how people are still living with trauma while waiting for compensation from the government. With the Covid lockdown following the riots, she says, the compensation was inadequate to help those affected rebuild their lives.

Supriti has been reporting on the plight of Indian students stranded in Ukraine, and how they’re struggling to return home. She explains the role of social media and how the students’ stories contradict the Indian government’s self-prase. “These students have no help within Ukraine,” she says. “They are having to risk their lives and find ways.”

This and a lot more as they talk about what made news, what didn’t, and what shouldn’t have.

Tune in.
