Full Send reporter Shawny Mack has admitted he deserved to be slapped by UFC star Nate Diaz for mocking his training partner's loss on social media.
Mack and Diaz were involved in a backstage altercation at UFC 267 in Las Vegas earlier this month. Mack was on his first assignment for Nelk Boys' new outlet Full Send MMA and Diaz took note of some previous tweets made by Mack which mocked his teammate Nick Maximov.
Mack explained how he edited a video of Diaz being asked about a fight with Khamzat Chimaev, only to offer up the fight to Maximov instead. "I took the song that goes 'Oh no, oh no' when the camera panned to Nick Maximov," Mack explained on the Full Send Podcast. "I played that and zoomed in on his face."

Maximov was never booked to fight Chimaev and went on to lose his next fight by first-round submission. "The second one, in his last fight he got tapped out in the first round," Mack continued. "Naturally, I screenshotted a picture of Nick Maximov slept in the cage and put [Diaz's] quote on it that said, 'Yo Khamzat Chimaev come fight my boy right here' so you know what, I probably deserved it."
Diaz crossed paths with other members of the Nelk Boys after the incident and insisted the situation was "all good", even joining Kyle Forgeard and Steve Will Do It by 'shotgunning' a can of their Happy Dad seltzer. Mack said that Diaz also shoved him when footage of the incident cut off, with the reporter playing off the altercation by stating that Diaz gave them free advertising.
"He just gave us some free advertising, he perfectly hit the Full Send," Mack added. "The camera cuts off and he shoved me then did the signature Nate Diaz [pose], flexing like squaring up on me. Gilbert Melendez was there, Jake Shields was there, all these guys could have whopped my f****ng a**."
Diaz has one fight left on his UFC deal and is caught up in contractual issues with the promotion after they have failed to find him a fight. The fan favourite has claimed the UFC are "holding him hostage" but Dana White fired back at his comments by stating : "It’s not possible. I owe you three fights a year. If I don’t fight you three times a year, I have to pay you. How can I hold him hostage?"
