Report: Warriors to allow Lester Quinones to enter free agency

According to HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto, the Golden State Warriors have decided not to tender a qualifying offer to Lester Quinones. As such, he will enter unrestricted free agency on Sunday (June 30.) Quinones played in 37 games for Steve Kerr’s team last season, averaging 4.4 points and 1.9 rebounds while shooting 39.7% from the field and 36.4% from 3-point range.

Golden State converted Quinones’s contract from a two-way deal into a full NBA contract on Feb. 22. He impressed with his defensive versatility and reliable fit within both the offensive and defensive systems. Nevertheless, Golden State is clearly looking to retool the roster, leaving Quinones on the outside looking in.

Quinones has been with the Warriors for the past two seasons, making 41 appearances in the NBA. He has also impressed during his tenure with the Santa Cruz Warriors in the G League.

Currently, it’s unclear whether there will be much a of market for Quinones services elsewhere in the NBA. Nevertheless, his performances this season have given him a strong chance of landing on another roster before the new season begins.
