Report: Warriors rookie to make Summer League debut

On June 22, the Golden State Warriors selected Trayce Jackson-Davis with the 57th pick in the NBA Draft. Unfortunately, Warriors fans have been unable to see what their latest recruit has to offer as he has been dealing with a hamstring injury. Without Jackson-Davis in the rotation, Golden State’s summer league roster has fallen to an 0-and-3 record in Las Vegas.

Despite the losses, Lester Quinones and Brandin Podziemski have both impressed, with the latter showing flashes of the potential that saw the Warriors select him with the 19th overall pick. Fortunately, Warriors fans won’t have to wait any longer to see Jackson-Davis in action. According to Bleacher Report’s Jason Dumas, Golden State’s second-round pick will make his summer league debut against the Houston Rockets on July 13.

The news that Jackson-Davis will be making his debut on July 13 shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise, as the rookie was seen working out with the Warriors earlier in the week.

Jackon-Davis spent last season plying his trade with the Indiana Hoosiers, where he participated in 32 games, averaging 20.9 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 4 assists, shooting 58.1% from the field and 69.5% from the free-throw line.

Now that Jackson-Davis will be on the court for the Warriors’ summer league roster, he will provide size and interior scoring while likely making a significant impact on the defensive glass and as a rim protector.

Golden State is currently short on players with size. As such, Jakson-Davis could be auditioning for a potential spot in Steve Kerr’s regular-season rotation. Although the Warriors have been cautious when looking to add young talent into the rotation in recent years.

For now, though, fans will be hoping to see Jackson-Davis complete the game without any further setbacks and potentially make a decent impact in his first game in Las Vegas.
