Report: Warriors one of the teams prepared to give Paul George 4-year max contract

With free agency quickly around the corner, one player who continues to be linked to the Golden State Warriors is Paul George. On Wednesday, Brian Windhost of ESPN, linked the Warriors to George’s upcoming sweepstakes.

According to Windhorst, the Warriors are one of the teams willing to sign George to a four-year max contract if they’re able to land the Los Angeles Clippers star wing in a trade at the start of free agency.

During an appearance on ESPN’s “Get Up,” Windhorst said the Warriors are “big fish hunting.” The Warriors would like to be an option for George if he were to leave the Clippers, per Windhorst.

Windhorst also reported the Warriors would be willing to offer George a four-year max contract following a sign and trade with the Clippers.

George has until Saturday, June 29, to either opt into a $48 million player option with the Clippers or elect to enter unrestricted free agency.

The 34-year-old wing is coming off an All-Star campaign, averaging 22.6 points on 47.1% shooting from the field and 41.3% from deep with 5.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game.
