Report: Warriors Emerge As New Contender in Pascal Siakam Trade Talks

Toronto Raptors two-time All-NBA forward Pascal Siakam continues to be the hottest name on the trade block as the Feb. 8 deadline inches closer.

TNT’s Chris Haynes reported Friday, citing sources, that the Atlanta HawksIndiana Pacers and Sacramento Kings are all tied to trade talks with the Raptors to acquire Siakam. But a new contender has recently entered the mix.

“There’s a [dark] horse team out there that I’ve been told to look out for by rival executives,” Haynes said Friday. “The Golden State Warriors.”

The Warriors have been enduring an up-and-down 2023-24 season, fittingly represented by their last 24 hours.

On Thursday, Golden State fumbled an 18-point lead and lost to the Denver Nuggets on a wild 39-foot buzzer-beater by Nikola Jokić. On Friday, it was reported that third-year forward Jonathan Kuminga doesn’t trust coach Steve Kerr with his development.

Kuminga, an explosive 21-year-old forward, would be an intriguing centerpiece in a potential Siakam trade if the Warriors decided to part ways.

In 34 games this season, Siakam is averaging 22.4 points and 6.6 rebounds per game for the Raptors. He’s one of the best two-way forwards in basketball and can guard multiple positions.

Haynes also reported that teams interested in a Siakam trade would be looking to offer a contract extension, as he will be an unrestricted free agent this summer.
