Report: Tom Brady in Serious Talks to Become Part Owner of NFL Franchise

It was always assumed that Tom Brady would remain close to football even in retirement, and the latest news surrounding the quarterback only confirms that assumption.

First, it was Brady’s 10-year television contract with Fox to become the network’s lead color analyst. On top of that, Brady is now reportedly pursuing an ownership stake in the Raiders, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Seth Wickersham.

Per the ESPN report, Brady is in deep discussions to become a limited partner in the franchise. This would be the second ownership arrangement between Brady and Raiders owner Mark Davis, as the two already share an ownership stake in the Aces of the WNBA, which was announced in March.

Brady’s interest in ownership with the Raiders will not impact his employment status with Fox, Wickersham added on Friday morning. League policy regarding team ownership and media employment only comes into effect if the owner holds a position of authority at a media company that could impact rights negotiations. This is not the case for Brady.

Brady retired earlier this offseason, concluding a 23-year career unmatched by any quarterback in NFL history. Brady owns nearly every conceivable career passing record, and has seven Super Bowl titles to his name, more than any player in NFL history.

Brady spent 20 seasons with the Patriots and the last three seasons with the Buccaneers before officially calling it a career.
