Report: Titans explored trades for Aaron Rodgers, Deshaun Watson

The Tennessee Titans reportedly explored trades for two star quarterbacks earlier this offseason in the Green Bay Packers’ Aaron Rodgers and the Cleveland Browns’ Deshaun Watson.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Titans were “dipping their toes” in the Rodgers pool before he ultimately decided to stick in Green Bay.

Schefter also notes Tennessee “checked in on” Watson before the Houston Texans dealt him to Cleveland, but were rebuffed because the Texans didn’t want to trade him in the division.

“There is a lot riding on this season for Ryan Tannehill and the Tennessee Titans,” Schefter said on NFL Live. “They were dipping their toes in on Aaron Rodgers during the offseason before he re-signed in Green Bay. They checked in on Deshaun Watson and found that he wouldn’t be traded in the division.”

The Titans exploring their options at the position is no surprise after the way the 2021 campaign ended, although it does surprise me that head coach Mike Vrabel and general manager Jon Robinson would want everything that comes with bringing Watson in, but that’s another conversation.

While the Titans didn’t land either quarterback, they did draft one with a ton of potential in Malik Willis, who the team hopes will be the long-term answer.
