Report: Titans, DeMarcus Walker have had talks about contract extension

The Tennessee Titans are reportedly at least exploring keeping one of their pending free agents and defensive standouts from 2022, DeMarcus Walker.

According to Justin Melo of The Draft Network, the Titans and Walker have discussed a contract extension. Melo notes no official offer has been made, though.

The 28-year-old defensive lineman appeared in all 17 games, serving mostly as a backup. He tallied a career-high seven sacks and was one of the biggest surprises for Tennessee last season.

Per Spotrac, Walker’s estimated market value comes in at a one-year deal worth $3.2 million, which would be a raise of over $2 million from what he made in his first year in Nashville, and a fair deal overall.

The Titans should definitely be interested in bringing Walker back, but it has to be at the right price. Walker is a really good backup and should be paid as such, but if he starts demanding starter-type money, he’ll be gone.
