Report: Texans work out former Eagles WR Greg Ward Jr.

Could former University of Houston quarterback Greg Ward Jr. return to H-Town for the 2024 season?

According to KPRC 2 Sports, the Houston Texans recently worked out the quarterback-turned-receiver over the weekend. Last season, Ward was a member of the Philadelphia Eagles’ practice squad.

Prior to switching positions at the professional level, Ward started at quarterback for the Cougars for three years, guiding them to a 38-24 win over Florida State in the 2015 Peach Bowl. In 49 games, he threw for 8.705 yards and 52 touchdowns against 26 interceptions while completing 67.5 percent of his throws.

He also rushed for 2,381 yards and 39 touchdowns on 558 attempts.

After being waived from the Eagles’ practice squad in 2018, Ward joined the San Antonio Commanders of The Alliance of American Football in 2019. In eight games, he totaled 22 receptions for 214 yards and four scores.

Returning to Philadelphia after the AAF folded, Ward caught a career-high 53 passes for 419 yards and six touchdowns in 10 games during the 2020 season.

Since entering the NFL in 2017, Ward, 29, has caught 88 career passes for 768 yards and ten touchdowns.
