The Houston Texans like what they saw from the New York Giants in 2022.
According to Aaron Wilson from KPRC-TV, the Texans have requested an interview with Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka.
Kafka, who is in his first season as offensive coordinator under rookie coach Brian Daboll, was able to unlock the enigma of 2019 first-round quarterback Daniel Jones, who threw for 15 touchdowns and a career-low five interceptions. Kafka was also able to revitalize running back Saquon Barkley, who had a career-high 295 carries for 1,312 yards and 10 rushing yards, which were the second-most of his career.
The Texans will presumably have a new quarterback for Kafka to work with, and he will also have a fully healthy Dameon Pierce carrying the ball. Throw in the Texans’ offensive line featuring Laremy Tunsil and Kenyon Green, and Kafka would have enough tools to kickstart the offense.
The Giants are in the wild-card round of the postseason and face the Minnesota Vikings. Houston can only hold virtual interviews this week with in-person meetings eligible next week.
