The Houston Texans don’t appear to be sold on taking Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud No. 2 overall.
Even though the Texans are desperate for a talented, young signal caller, there is too much speculation as to what Houston will do with the pick. The Texans may go with the best player available, and Stroud is not ahead of Alabama defensive end Will Anderson on any such draft boards.
There are a myriad of explanations as to why Houston doesn’t consider Stroud a total lock at No. 2 overall, but the former Buckeye’s representation is not one of the reasons.
According to Adam Schefter from ESPN, general manager Nick Caserio said the fact Stroud is represented by David Mulugheta is “not a factor at all.”
The last time Mulugheta represented a quarterback on the Texans, that entire ordeal was ugly. At least the Texans got a hefty trade compensation package for their troubles.
If the Texans aren’t concerned with who Stroud keeps close, then it appears whatever decision Houston makes will be strictly related to on-field performance.
