Report: Texans met formally with Michigan State WR Jayden Reed at NFL combine

INDIANAPOLIS — The Houston Texans believe they are in the market for a receiver.

According to Justin Melo from the Draft Network, the Texans have had a formal meeting with Michigan State wideout Jayden Reed at the NFL combine.

Reed caught 55 passes for 636 yards and five touchdowns through 11 games for the Spartans last season.

The Texans’ receiving corps could be on the verge of a slight overhaul. Houston can count on Nico Collins as he enters the third year of his contract. However, there are still availability issues to be answered with John Metchie bravely battling leukemia. Brandin Cooks has also stated he does not want to be a part of another rebuild, and new Houston coach DeMeco Ryans mentioned he would let the situation play itself out.

Reed is ranked as the 89th-best player on Pro Football Focus’ big board. The Texans would be able to get Reed late in the third round or early in the fourth if the draft were stable when it came to receivers coming off the board.
