Commanders receiver Terry McLaurin’s status for the team’s Week 1 game vs. the Cardinals is still uncertain, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Thursday.
McLaurin injured his right toe during Monday night’s preseason game vs. the Ravens. Thankfully for Washington, his X-rays came back negative, and the MRI showed no major damage. He was officially diagnosed with a right toe sprain.
After the game, coach Ron Rivera said McLaurin is considered day-to-day, although the Commanders are hopeful he will be ready come Sunday, Sept. 10.
Schefter noted that the 27-year-old receiver is preparing as if he will be ready to play for the regular season opener, but nothing is for certain yet. Therefore, McLaurin is still likely considered day-to-day.
McLaurin is coming off his third consecutive 1,000-plus yard season. Last year, the receiver finished with 77 catches on 120 targets for 1,191 yards and five touchdowns, earning his first Pro Bowl bid.
