When Jesse Marsch became manager of Leeds United, he brought a small number of staff with him. One of those was Franz Scheimer, who had served as Marsch's assistant in Austria at RB Salzburg.
The former Austrian international defender is now being linked with a role with his country's national team. Ralf Rangnick has been confirmed as the new Austria national team manager, a role which he will combine with his consultancy position at Manchester United and the 63-year-old has links to Scheimer through their shared history with the Red Bull group.
Austrian outlet Die Presse (via Sport Witness) has reported that between 15 to 20 candidates were interviewed in consideration for the Austrian managerial role, with Marsch's assistant a strong possibility of being named as the number two. It is unclear whether Scheimer would continue working for Leeds, should these reports be correct.

The report states the Austrian FA's sporting director Peter Schöttel was the one who held the meetings and made a trip to England to talk to Schiemer.
Leeds have been linked by the Athletic to Rangnick's current first-team coach at Manchester United, Chris Armas, who worked with Marsch at New York Red Bulls. Marsch's current coaching team includes Mark Jackson - promoted from Under 23 duties - and Cameron Toshack, alongside Scheimer. The summer may see an overhaul in the coaching staff, as Leeds will look to plan more long-term after Marsch was brought in with a short-term goal of keeping the club in the Premier League.
