Report Suggests Elon Musk May Know Who The Next Twitter CEO Will Be

Since Tesla (TSLA) CEO Elon Musk spent $44 billion dollars in October 2022 to buy social networking website Twitter (TWTR), things there have been ... a little erratic.

From reports of being told to "work long hours or you're fired" to dropping a host of security features and having more than half of its advertisers fleeing the platform, Twitter seems to be in a crisis state.

Musk has addressed the issues selectively, taking a vote on Twitter to ask users to weigh in on whether or not he should remain CEO. More than half voted yes, leading the billionaire to promise he would find a replacement -- although he indicated that likely wouldn't happen until the end of 2023.

However, a new report from Platformer reveals that Musk already has someone in mind -- and it's a person he is already working with closely.

That person is Steve Davis, the CEO of Musk-owned The Boring Company. It's best known for its ambitious Hyperloop project, a tunnel system that would allow passengers to travel from Washington D.C. to New York in less than 30 minutes.

Davis and Musk have worked together since 2003, with Davis being one of the first people Musk hired for SpaceX.

In addition to his current role at The Boring Company, Davis also has played an active role on Twitter's transition team, tasked by Musk to cut $500 million in costs. Davis instead cut nearly $1 billion -- all while sleeping at the Twitter offices with his wife and newborn child in tow.
