Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Stetson Bennett reportedly has lined up over 10 visits and private workouts ahead of the 2023 NFL draft. Bennett, who won back-to-back national championships to cap off his storied career at Georgia, is currently rated as the No. 11 quarterback prospect in the draft.
However, Bennett is drawing some intrigue from NFL teams. Bennett has a stronger arm than many realize along with excellent mobility and quickness.
The majority of NFL draft experts see Stetson Bennett as a back up at the NFL level. The 2022 NFL season saw a ton of injuries at the quarterback position. Quarterback depth can prevent NFL teams from having to give up on their season due to an injury.
The San Francisco 49ers are an example of why it is important to have quarterback depth. The 49ers lost quarterback Jimmy Garappolo for much of the season last year. Brock Purdy did a good job of filling in for Garappolo, but he exited the NFC championship with an injury. Once San Francisco was forced to start its third-string quarterback the NFC championship was effectively over.
Stetson Bennett has an impressive combination of tape and experience. He has some inconsistencies throughout his college career, but so did other top NFL draft quarterbacks like Kentucky’s Will Levis and Florida’s Anthony Richardson.
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported Stetson Bennett’s busy predraft schedule:
One of the busiest NFL Draft prospects since the combine: Georgia QB Stetson Bennett, whose schedule so far includes private visits and/or workouts with 10 teams, per sources. Bennett won consecutive national titles with the Bulldogs and was a Heisman finalist last season.
