Report: Steelers’ T.J. Watt Fined for Two Violations Committed vs. Ravens

Steelers star linebacker T.J. Watt was fined a total of $25,132 based on two violations—unsportsmanlike conduct and unnecessary roughness—he committed during last Sunday’s 17–10 win over the Ravens, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

The unsportsmanlike conduct fine comes from Watt removing his helmet to celebrate a sack on Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, which helped the Steelers capture the comeback and the win. It’s clear that the 2021 NFL Defensive Player of the Year was hyped about the play.

The unnecessary roughness fine is stemmed from Watt seemingly punching Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers while he was trying to break up a pass from Jackson. While this punch appeared to be an accident, Watt still received a fine from the NFL.

It was an eventful game for Watt, as he also reportedly “badly dislocated [his] finger and tore multiple ligaments,” per Pelissero, but popped his finger back in place and kept playing.
