Report: Steelers LB T.J. Watt suffers only partial pec tear

Moments after Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt was injured in Sunday’s game you can see him mouth something to the effect of “I tore my pec” and Watt wasn’t wrong. However, it sounds as if given the injury things worked out about as good as can be, according to CBS Sports reporter Jonathan Jones.

According to Jones, Watt didn’t suffer a complete tear and won’t have to miss the entire season that a surgical tear could require. Jones indicated about a month for recovery and conservatively speaking, if Pittsburgh can get Watt back after four or five games, they should count themselves lucky.

The defending Defensive Player of the Year got his 2022 season off to a great start with a sack and an interception before suffering the injury near the end of regulation.

While Watt is out of the lineup, look for newly-added Malik Reed to have a much larger role on defense opposite Alex Highsmith.
