Report: Russell Wilson Underwent Right Knee Surgery

Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee this offseason to address a nagging issue that he has dealt with for several years, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. It was a minor scope procedure and he is already working out and throwing.

He is expected to be good to go for organized team activities and will be at full health for the 2023 season. It’s good news for Wilson, who will look to make a vast improvement next year after a disappointing 2022 campaign.

The nine-time Pro Bowler joined the Broncos last offseason and the team had lofty expectations with the addition of the Super Bowl-winning signal-caller. But instead of becoming a postseason contender, Denver was one of the most inept offenses in the NFL. The Broncos scored a total of 29 touchdowns over 17 games and went 5–12 in the process.

Wilson finished with 3,524 passing yards and threw for just 16 touchdowns to 11 interceptions. As a result, rookie coach Nathaniel Hackett was fired and was replaced with Sean Payton.

Hopefully for Wilson, the surgery and offseason changes will give Denver a better chance of reaching those expectations.
