Russell Wilson’s free agency is in full swing, as the veteran quarterback is set to visit the Pittsburgh Steelers before NFL free agency begins next week. However, before that takes place, Wilson had a surprise visit with a different team that could be looking for a quarterback.
Wilson was spotted at Newark Airport in New Jersey on Friday morning before his flight to Pittsburgh, and ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that it was because the quarterback had an “exploratory meeting” with the New York Giants.

The Giants are coming off a disappointing 5–12 season and have quarterback Daniel Jones signed through 2026. However, it seems as though New York is looking for a new quarterback this offseason anyway, whether that is in the NFL draft or in free agency.

The Denver Broncos announced their intention to release Wilson when the new league year starts on Wednesday, but the veteran quarterback can visit with teams before then. It is the first time that Wilson is a free agent in his 12-year career.
Wilson will make $39 million from the Broncos alone next year, meaning money doesn’t have to be his top priority in free agency. Therefore, teams could view Wilson as a value option among the available quarterback options.
While the Giants and Steelers are two known teams interested in Wilson, others could also explore the possibility of signing Wilson. Schefter named the Las Vegas Raiders as another team that could meet with Wilson during the offseason.
