Days after the PGA Tour said that next month's Genesis Invitational would be moved away from Riviera Country Club due to the fires in Los Angeles, a new venue has been officially confirmed.
In a joint-statement by the PGA Tour, the Genesis Invitational, TGR Live and Riviera Country Club, it was revealed that the South Course at Torrey Pines Golf Course would act as Riviera's stand-in for the 2025 Genesis Invitational - hosted by Tiger Woods - and the tournament would hopefully return to its original site from 2026.
The upcoming Genesis Invitational - which is still set to take place in its original date of February 13-16 - is also set to include a number of LA fires-related relief initiatives.
PGA Tour commissioner, Jay Monahan said: "...Highlighting the resilience of Los Angeles and the need for continued support for the ongoing recovery efforts is what our collective teams are working towards with the playing of The Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines.
"Our thanks to Tiger Woods, TGR Live and Genesis for their leadership in these efforts. We are grateful to Farmers Insurance, Mayor Todd Gloria and the City of San Diego and the Century Club for extending the invitation to relocate The Genesis Invitational to Torrey Pines."
The iconic Californian layout is currently hosting this week's Farmers Insurance Open - the only event of the year to take place from Wednesday until Saturday - between both its North and South Course but will have a few tournaments to recover and reset before the South takes exclusive responsibility and welcomes the PGA Tour's best back in mid-February.
The South Course - which is slightly longer and tougher than the North - has already hosted the 2008 US Open, won by Genesis host Woods, and the 2021 US Open in which Jon Rahm claimed his maiden Major.
Expected to both host and compete, Woods will return to the site of eight career wins (seven Farmers Insurance Open titles and one US Open) and play Torrey Pines for the first time in five years.
In the same statement, Woods echoed Monahan's sentiments. He said: "We are grateful to the City of San Diego and Torrey Pines for hosting the 2025 Genesis Invitational, and to everyone who has reached out in support of the tournament.
"While Riviera remains the home of The Genesis Invitational, we look forward to playing on another championship-caliber golf course this year and using the tournament to support those affected by the fires in the Los Angeles area."
A change in venue was required in the first place as a result of the brushfires in LA, which have caused devastation to much of the city's west side - including the deaths of at least 28 people - and came perilously close to directly affecting the annual home of the Genesis Invitational since 1999.
Multiple fires continue to burn in LA more than two weeks after the first one started, with clean-up operations still unable to begin in certain areas and tens of thousands of Californians displaced from their homes.
