Raiders Make Chandler Jones Roster Decision After Arrest in Las Vegas

The Raiders are releasing defensive end Chandler Jones, the team announced on Saturday afternoon. The move was first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The club made the decision after Jones was arrested in Las Vegas on a domestic violence charge late Thursday night.

“Raiders are releasing DE Chandler Jones, who was arrested yesterday in Las Vegas after a turbulent week, per a league source,“ said Schefter

“Jones has been away from the Raiders since Labor Day weekend and was placed on the NFI list on Sept. 20. He was arrested after allegedly violating a domestic violence temporary protective order. Jones posted on social media Monday that he was taken to a hospital ‘against my will’, and later transferred to a behavioral health facility.”

The veteran's release comes just one day after the organization issued a statement early Friday following his arrest:

"The Raiders are hopeful that Chandler Jones receives the care that he needs. He, his family, and all those involved are in our thoughts. As this is now a legal matter, we will not be providing further comment,” the statement read.

The XLIX Super Bowl champion has posted a series of disturbing social media messages and videos over the last month leading to widespread concerns about his mental state and well-being.

Jones was released from Clark County Detention Center on Friday after posting bond and due back in court on Dec. 4, according to ESPN.
