Report: PSG, Chelsea Discuss Possible Neymar Transfer

Chelsea just had a major spending spree during the January transfer window, but it looks as if new club owner Todd Boehly isn’t done yet. After picking up a gargantuan tab on transfer fees, running more than €600 million, the American is reportedly setting his sights on Neymar as his next target.

According to ESPN, representatives from Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea met this week to discuss a potential summer transfer for the Brazilian international. The report indicates it was Boehly himself meeting with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi on Tuesday in Paris.

It’s unclear what fee the Parisian club would demand in exchange for Neymar’s services, but considering how the Blues have navigated the last two transfer windows, it’d be surprising if PSG’s price was too costly for Chelsea’s boss.

Chelsea has yet to rediscover its form on the pitch, despite its mass influx of talent. The club sits 10th in the Premier League with 31 points in 22 games.

In the January window alone, Chelsea managed to add star talents such as Enzo Fernández, Mykhailo Mudryk, and Benoît Badiashile. Additionally, the brought João Félix aboard on loan from Atlético Madrid.

Chelsea look to further strengthen the squad with the addition of Neymar in the summer, who is enjoying another sensational season in Ligue 1, having registered 12 goals and 10 assists in 19 games.

Neymar’s current contract with PSG is staggering, as the Brazilian pockets a reported €30 million annually, per ESPN. His current deal runs through the 2024-25 season.
