Report provides good news on Bo Nix’s long-term back health

When Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix revealed Monday that he played through transverse process fractures in his back last season, fans and pundits immediately wondered if there might be long-term implications for the QB. There’s good news on that front, according to a report from DNVR’s Zac Stevens.

“According to a source, Nix’s fractures are already healed and there is no concern for the future,” Stevens wrote on Monday.

While still painful, they were likely minor fractures if the Broncos allowed Nix to play through the injury. He finished the game against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 12 and then played against the Cleveland Browns in Week 13. Denver then had a well-timed bye in Week 14.

“I got treatment on it and then we were fortunate to have an off week that next week,” Nix said Monday. “[The injury] kind of went away after that.”

Nix did not appear to be hindered down the stretch as he finished the regular season with 12 touchdown passes in the final four games after the bye. If the DNVR source is accurate, it sounds like the injury shouldn’t be a cause for concern in the future.
