Report: Patriots WR Jakobi Meyers signs his second-round tender

New England Patriots wide receiver Jakobi Meyers signed his second-round, $3.99 million tender, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Meyers is entering his fourth year with the Patriots and he recently expressed interest in staying with the team long-term. He waited three months to sign the tender and said it was to put trust in his agents and the team to pull together for him.

“So once I got here, I talked to my agent and I was just like, whatever you got to do,” Meyers said. “That’s why (my agent) gets paid the big bucks and I’m going to try to do what I do best. So, I kind of put it all on his plate, just trusting him, trusting the coaches, trusting the front office.”

Despite signing the tender, Schefter reported that Meyers’ agents are continuing conversations with the Patriots about a new deal.

Meyers was the Patriots’ leading receiver the last two seasons and he’s sitting atop the depth chart entering 2022. He finished last year with 83 receptions for 866 yards and two touchdowns, with 126 targets.

The Patriots have Meyers, DeVante Parker, Kendrick Bourne, Nelson Agholor, Tyquan Thornton, N’Keal Harry and Tre Nixon all competing for a roster spot currently.
