Report: Panthers expect Bryce Young to miss 1-2 games with ankle injury

Bryce Young’s rookie campaign will probably be put on hold—but just for a little bit.

According to Joe Person of The Athletic, the Carolina Panthers are expecting Young’s ankle injury to keep him out for one to two games. The team, per Darin Gantt, already stated on Thursday that the rookie quarterback is not likely to play against the Seattle Seahawks this Sunday.

While details about the setback are not exactly clear, offensive coordinator Thomas Brown told reporters yesterday that Young sustained the injury some time in the first half of Monday night’s loss to the New Orleans Saints. He also said the 22-year-old did not bring up the issue during the game.

“There was no flinch by him at all,” Brown said. “There was no mention of any injury throughout the game, which shows his toughness overall. So that should never be in question—him or anybody else. I think our guys definitely fought ’til the end. It was great to see him compete as well.”

Young did not participate in Wednesday’s walk-through nor Thursday’s practice. If he is ruled out for Week 3, 13th-year veteran Andy Dalton will start in his place.
