Report: Mekhi Becton expected to be at Jets minicamp

New York Jets offensive tackle Mekhi Becton hasn’t been in attendance for organized team activities (OTAs) this spring, but he had a good reason for missing these practices. He was back home for the birth of his first child and has been spending this time with his family.

But next week, the Jets will hold their mandatory minicamp. And though it’s unclear how much Becton will do on the field as he continues to recover from a knee injury that caused him to miss most of the 2021 season, he’s expected to be in attendance, according to DJ Bien-Aime of the New York Daily News.

That’s a positive development for the young tackle.

Becton played just one game after suffering a knee injury in Week 1, which was only expected to sideline him for 4-8 weeks. He played 14 games and made 13 starts as a rookie in 2020, but the Jets haven’t seen as much of their left tackle as they’d have liked to.

Hopefully he can stay healthy in 2022 and lead the Jets’ offensive line room.
