One night after winning the league MVP award, Sixers star Joel Embiid is “on track” to return for Game 2 against the Celtics on Wednesday night, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Just two days removed from missing the team’s Game 1 victory over the Celtics, Embiid is expected to return to the lineup. After winning the MVP on Tuesday night, Embiid turned to his teammates and said “I’m back.”
Embiid, who has been nursing a sprained LCL in his right knee that he suffered in Game 3 of the team’s first-round matchup against the Nets, received a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment on his knee earlier this week in hopes of improving his healing from the injury. Now he will suit up for the 76ers barring any setbacks as the team looks to take a 2–0 series lead home to Philadelphia.
Embiid is averaging 33.1 points, 10.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game this season on 54.8% shooting from the floor.
