Report: Latest Joe Burrow Injury Update Is Positive Sign for Bengals in Week 1

Much has been made this NFL training camp of the status of Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, whose July 27 calf strain sent shock waves throughout the league.

It is becoming increasingly apparent, however, that Burrow will be back sooner rather than later.

Cincinnati's quarterback is expected to be ready for the Bengals' opener against the Browns on Sept. 10, according to a report from ESPN's Jeremy Fowler on SportsCenter.

"People I've talked to do believe that for Week 1, he'll be ready to go," Fowler said. "They're taking this really slowly. It would be at least a mild surprise if he played in some of the preseason action, but we'll see if it shakes out or if that calf perks up. It's a calf strain, it's something that he can manage and he's slowly working his way back. Signs are pointing in the right direction."

Burrow enters his fourth year in the league already among the most respected in football at his position, having thrown 35 touchdowns against 12 interceptions en route to the AFC championship game in 2022.

The LSU product threw before Cincinnati’s 36–19 loss to the Packers Friday in its preseason opener. The Bengals have two more preseason games on the docket before their opener, against the Falcons on Friday and Commanders on Aug. 26.
