Report: Jordan Poole finalizing four-year, $140 million contract extension with Warriors

Before unveiling their 2022 championship banner and receiving their rings in front of their home crowd at Chase Center on Tuesday night against the Los Angeles Lakers, the Golden State Warriors are handling business.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Jordan Poole is finalizing a four-year, $140 million contract with the Warriors.

The Warriors initially drafted Poole with the No. 28 overall pick in the 2019 draft. After struggling as a rookie and sophomore in the NBA, Poole played a stint in the G League before breaking into the rotation down the final stretch of the 2020-21 season.

In his third campaign in the NBA, Poole was a key piece in Golden State’s run to a championship in 2022. The 23-year-old guard broke out, averaging 18.5 points on 44.8% shooting from the field and 36.4% from beyond the arc. Poole added four assists and 3.4 rebounds in 30 minutes per contest during the 2021-22 season.

Poole tallied 30 or more points in 10 different contests for the Warriors during the 2021-22 campaign. Poole added nine different games with six or more made 3-pointers during his breakout season. Poole matched his career-high with 38 points on 11-of-22 shooting from the field in a contest against the Phoenix Suns last season.

Whether it’s coming in off the bench behind Klay Thompson in a super-sub role, or starting alongside Steph Curry in the backcourt, Poole is now a featured member of the Warriors’ rotation. Along with contributing next to Curry, Thompson, Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins, Poole will help lead a young group with the Warriors that includes players like James Wiseman, Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody and Patrick Baldwin Jr.
