With the defensive coordinator role filled, the Jacksonville Jaguars continue their search for their next offensive coordinator and a third candidate has been added to that growing list.
According to Tom Pelissero, the Jaguars are interviewing Grant Udinski on Friday for their offensive coordinator opening.
Only 28 years old, Udinski is a fast riser in the coaching ranks with Pelissero adding that he’s now interviewed for five offensive coordinator openings during this hiring cycle alone.
Udinski has spent the last three seasons on the Minnesota Vikings’ coaching staff, which most recently includes him being the assistant quarterbacks coach and chief of special projects, as the Vikings’ team site lists.
Alec Lewis, who covers the Vikings for The Athletic, would note that Udinski has worked closely with head coach Kevin O’Connell during his time in Minnesota, which I’m sure adds to the intrigue around the NFL, given O’Connell’s success on offense with various quarterbacks.
Sam Darnold this past season in the Minnesota offense would have a career year, completing 66% of his throws for 4,564 yards with 36 touchdowns to 13 interceptions with the Vikings winning 14 games.
Along with Udinski, the Jaguars have also interviewed Tavita Pritchard and Nate Scheelhaase for their offensive coordinator opening.
Head coach Liam Coen confirmed that he will be calling the plays on offense this season.
